00 Built for Electrical
I'm a field tech. Here's how Tech Ops runs an electrical shop's projects, service calls and change orders.
01 What you deal with
An electrical shop runs two kinds of work at once: service calls that need a tech today, and projects that run for weeks. On the projects, the scope grows, the customer asks for three more circuits, and if nobody writes it down it doesn't get billed. Wire, breakers and boxes come off the truck all day and the count is never right.
Tech Ops treats a project as the place time and materials collect, so the bill matches what was done.
02 How Tech Ops handles it
Every one of these comes with every seat.
A project collects its tickets, its time, the parts and the materials used. You see what the job has cost as it goes, and bill time and material from it.
When the customer adds scope, send the change order from the job. They approve it, and it's on the record before the work starts.
The service side runs on tickets and the dispatch board. Drag a call onto a tech; it shows in their My Day.
Each truck, shelf and warehouse is a stock location. Wire, breakers, boxes and devices move onto the job and onto the invoice. Ask another truck for a part, order what runs low.
Quote from the ticket or the project. The customer approves, and the quote turns into the work.
Panels, transformers, generators and transfer switches as assets at the site, with their history and a QR label.
Build your own checklists and forms, and attach them to the work so the steps get done the same way every time.
Travel, arrive, work, done. Each step is a tap, and the hours come from the job itself. There's no clock in or clock out to forget.
Your customers log in free, put in their own service calls, see their sites and equipment, approve quotes and sign off finished work. They never see your costs or your other customers.
Team chat, a chat on every ticket, voice and video calls with screen share, and a walkie button. Nobody has to text from their personal phone.
Each person picks their own language in their profile, so your whole crew reads the app in the language they're comfortable with.
